Most tools give you a blunt "delete all". This one lets you say exactly what you mean, then shows you the consequences before acting.
Email Cleaner detects which sections your mailbox actually has — Inbox, Promotions, Social, Updates, Forums, Spam and Trash — and empties the ones you pick. Gmail categories, Outlook's Junk Email and Yahoo's Bulk Mail all map to the same controls.
Give it a word or phrase and it finds every message containing it — in the subject, the sender or the full body — across every folder at once, then deletes them together. Match any keyword or require all of them.
Every job counts matches first and breaks them down by folder, with a sample of what would go and how much space you would get back. Nothing is deleted until you press the button.
Deletions move mail to Trash by default. Every affected message is recorded, so a single click puts them all back in the folder they came from — for up to 90 days.
Sent, Drafts and Archive are protected unless you name them explicitly. Starred mail is excluded by default. Unbounded queries are refused outright, and anything over 25,000 messages needs a second confirmation.
Save a filter as a rule and schedule it — clear Promotions older than 90 days every Monday, and never think about it again. Scheduled rules may only move mail to Trash, never erase it.
How it works
The whole flow is designed around the assumption that you will occasionally write a rule that matches more than you expected.
Gmail and Outlook use OAuth — click, approve, done. Everything else takes an address and an app password, with server settings discovered for you.
Tick the sections, type the keywords, add a date or size limit. The interface tells you which filters run on the provider and which run locally.
Exact counts per folder, total space, and a sample of messages. Warnings appear for anything risky before you commit.
Confirm and watch live progress. If it was not what you meant, one click restores everything.
Rules are written against folder roles, never raw folder names. Each provider maps its own world onto them, so one rule behaves the same everywhere.

Where a role does not exist — Outlook has no Promotions — the preview says so rather than quietly widening the search.
No. Every job runs a preview first that counts matches and shows a sample, and nothing is deleted until you approve it.
Deletions move mail to Trash by default, so they can be undone. Sent, Drafts and Archive are protected unless you name them explicitly, starred mail is excluded by default, and a query with no folder, keyword, sender or date filter is refused outright rather than matching everything.
Gmail and Google Workspace through the Gmail API, Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 through Microsoft Graph, and Yahoo, iCloud, Mail.com, GMX, Zoho, Fastmail, AOL and any other mailbox that speaks IMAP.

Only to match your own rules. When a keyword search needs the message body, that content is processed in memory and never written to disk.
We store message identifiers, subjects and senders for matched messages so a deletion can be undone — nothing else. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never use it to train AI models. Read the privacy policy.
For Gmail and Outlook we never see a password at all — access is granted by OAuth, and you can revoke it from your Google or Microsoft account at any time.
For IMAP providers you supply an app password, a single-purpose credential you can revoke without changing your real password. It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage and cryptographically bound to your account, so a copied record cannot be decrypted elsewhere.
Yes, as long as the job ran in trash mode — which is the default. Every affected message is recorded, so one click restores them to the folder they came from, for 7 to 90 days depending on your plan.
Permanent deletion is available but never the default, is refused for scheduled rules, and always requires an explicit confirmation that says plainly it cannot be undone.
Deleting your account removes your stored credentials immediately and all associated rules, job history and message records within 30 days. Disconnecting a single mailbox deletes its credential straight away.
Deleting your Email Cleaner account never deletes anything in your actual mailbox.
